What is PRP Hair Treatment?

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) hair treatment is a frequently used treatment that involves transferring the blood taken from the patient’s own body at some level to the application area. This method is used for skin rejuvenation purposes as well as for hair loss. PRP is also a treatment method to repair tendons, tissues, ligaments, joints, and muscles. PRP hair treatment can be used to help repair damaged hair, hair that is prone to shedding, thinning, and slightly shed due to environmental conditions or genetic predisposition.

The main purpose of PRP hair treatment is to speed up the growth of cells and tissues, whose repair process slows down due to genetic or environmental factors. When these cells get to repair themselves fast, most hair problems can be reduced. PRP treatment for hair problems is not applied to hair growth. Its main objectives include slowing down hair loss, revitalizing the hair follicles, supporting hair growth and preparing the basis for the healing of tissues, and supporting the repair of the scalp. It is a supportive and complementary treatment and may not be enough for hair loss on its own. PRP treatment alone will not provide the expected results, especially in patients with advanced hair loss. Therefore, it should accompany other treatments that are more effective or invasive.
